" Palazzo Ca' Zenobio "
Dorsoduro 2596, Carmini - Venezia

Far from the famous tourist routes, Ca' Zenobio faces onto the quiet Rio dei Carmini on a site that is not spectacular, like the Grand Canal, but rather is characterised by serene intimacy, unchanged by time. Ca' Zenobio was built towards the end of the 17th Century on the site where the Gothic Palazzo Morosini had stood until a few years before. Palazzo Zenobio is one of the most important examples of Venetian late Baroque style, not only architecturally but also for decoration of the interior.

The palazzo is well known for the famous trompe-l'oeil ceiling fresco by Louis (Lodovico) Dorigny in the ball hall. But also the wall paintings by Luca Carlevariis and the ceiling paintings by Lazzarini and Tiepolo in the 'portego' are remarkable.

Behind the palazzo, there is a large garden with the former library.

  The Hall of Mirrors

The main hall of the Zenobio Palace, named Tiepolian after the frescos and the complex decoration, to which probably collaborated the young G.B. Tiepolo. A hall full of light, an exemple of venetian art and life in the XVIII Century.

The small "portego" (Hall of the "Stucco")

Before the entrance to the Hall of Mirrors. On the Walls, there are three precious paintings of Luca Carlevaris, a predecessor of the venetian 17's view painters. The ceiling's frescos are some representation of Lazzarini's allegories. All these frescos are framed by 17's fine "stucco", along with marble made door arches.

The gala dinner is not included in the conference fee. You can book your ticket by filling in the registration form (only the relative row). Please note that no gala ticket will be sold onsite, so please book it by September 13.
