EDITORIAL
This
volume has been dedicated to the problems which that are firmly at the forefront
of the scientific as well as industrial, civic and societal interest. Energy
saving is practiced for improving the efficiency, to minimise the consumption
of fuels - fossil as well renewable, and to reduce Greenhouse and haze/smog
footprints. This can be achieved by advanced design, management, operation and
particularly by appropriate integration of manufacturing, power generation,
transport, transmission and conversion of energy carriers, business and civic
units and even agriculture. This includes water and wastewater minimisation
and exploitation of low potential heat, hot and chilled wastewater.
However,
they are not only emissions which are having a considerable impact on quality
of life. The sustainable development also demands reduction of solid particles,
including those, bellow 2.5 PM, effluent and waste. The authors of this volume
contribution presented a number of approaches and even implementation aiming
to tackle those sustainability issues.
The
Guest Editors believe that the published papers will attract wide readership
attention and contribute to the spreading the most recent research results in
the field.
